Braised Chicken Thighs & Onions

Hey, I'm E. Lynn — the messy bun behind Cabernet & Chaos Kitchen by The Hollow Quill. I bake like I live: a little wine, a lot of heart, and usually with something falling off the counter.

Thanks for being in my little corner of the kitchen.

Whore for Coffee 20oz mug
$14.99

A sturdy ceramic mug that speaks plainly and with a wink. Available in three sizes (11oz, 15oz, 20oz), this white mug features bold black typography across the side — a cheeky, confident line that lands with humor during slow mornings or busy workdays. The large C-handle fits comfortably in hand; the glossy, scratch-resistant finish keeps the print crisp after many washes. Use it at your kitchen counter, on the office desk, or tucked into a favorite reading nook. It’s the kind of mug that sparks a laugh, starts conversations, and becomes part of your daily ritual when you need a little straight-shooting levity with your first sip.

Ah yes, chicken on the bone.

One of my greatest fears.

Joking. Sort of.

I do have an apparent affliction with bone-in meat.

The kind we eat you dirty minded bitches, you.

I digress.

Why, you ask? I’m not sure.

The truth is I’ve only tried shrimp once in my life — when I was in grade school — and nothing happened. At least, nothing happened to me.

My mother, however, went into anaphylactic shock one afternoon while peeling shrimp at our kitchen sink.

I may not have inherited the allergy, but I definitely inherited the fear of possibly becoming allergic to the food itself.

Therefore, I avoid it completely - going as far as not touching or “toeing the line” if you will, when needing to touch any package of crustacean.

I’m just not for it.

And when I’m presented with a food I’m not sure what to do with, or not exactly sure how to prepare I dwell on it like any other ADHD-er — we wait until the last possible minute.

One Last Bite…

There’s something about a pot of slow-braised chicken thighs that makes an ordinary evening feel a little more special. Tender, fall-off-the-bone chicken, a rich, savory sauce, and a kitchen that smells like you’ve been cooking all damn day.

The best part? It’s comfort food without all the fuss.

Serve it over creamy mashed potatoes, buttery egg noodles, or with a crusty loaf of bread to soak up every last drop of that delicious sauce. Pour yourself a generous glass of wine, light a candle, and call it a night well spent.

Because sometimes the best dinners aren't complicated. They're just made with a little patience, a whole lot of flavor, and preferably a glass of Cabernet within reach.

Until next time, keep the wine flowing and the kitchen a little chaotic.

Cheers, E. Lynn
